Compensation rules
Last updated: 12 September 2026
These rules explain how you are compensated, when compensation is confirmed, how you redeem points, and what can reverse or limit compensation. They form part of the Terms of Service.
How you are compensated
Each survey shows its compensation before you start. You are compensated for verified participation according to that offer. Completing the same survey more than once is not compensated twice. Researchers set compensation subject to our minimum floor so rates stay fair for your time.
Pending review, holds, and clawbacks
New compensation usually starts as pending while quality checks run. If nothing is flagged, it is typically auto-approved after about 24 hours. We may flag, hold, reduce, or reverse pending compensation for quality problems, duplicate or fraudulent behaviour, false claims, or other policy breaches. You can appeal within the window shown on the flagged response. Confirmed compensation that later proves fraudulent may still be corrected where the rules allow.
Leaving a survey early
You may withdraw from a survey under the survey’s rules. Leaving a survey before completion does not yield compensation. Researchers cannot reject a response or withhold compensation themselves — they can report it for review, and Groundtruths decides the outcome, which may include confirming, holding, reducing, or reversing compensation. For a survey on an external form we decide using account and claim signals. We will tell you what was reported and give you a chance to respond before any compensation is reversed.
Points value
Points are the unit of compensation. The current conversion rate is 100 points = GH¢1 (or the equivalent display we show in your wallet). If we change it, we will give a notice in-app or by email where we have it, stating the current rate, new rate, and reason. Afterwards, balances convert at the new rate.
Redeeming points
You can redeem confirmed points for the options we enable in product — starting with airtime to your verified phone number. Mobile-money cash-out may be offered only when enabled and when our regulatory position allows. Redemption uses licensed partners.
Limits, identity, and destination changes
Redemptions are subject to configured limits (for example a minimum redeem amount, a per-transaction maximum, and a per-day maximum at the basic verification tier). Higher identity verification may be required above thresholds. Changing a payout destination requires step-up verification and may trigger a 24–48 hour payout hold for safety.
Timing and failed deliveries
Redemptions are processed in batches (typically several times on weekdays and once on weekends). You can follow status in the app (for example requested → processing → sent). If a delivery fails after points were reserved, we restore the points and tell you how to try again.
Expiry and dormant accounts
Points do not expire while your account stays active (for example a completion, redemption, or meaningful login) within a 12-month period. After 15 months without qualifying activity we may write off the remaining balance. Where we are able to reach you, we will warn you before that happens. Expired points cannot be reinstated, though the account may still be usable for new participation.
Referrals
Referral bonuses, when offered, typically unlock after the referred person’s first qualifying completion and are subject to anti-abuse checks. Collusion or fake referrals can void bonuses and affect accounts.
Tax
Compensation may be assessable income under applicable tax law.
Changes to these rules
We may update these Compensation rules as product, safety, or legal requirements change. Material changes will be announced in-app. Continued participation after the effective date means you accept the updated rules, except where law requires otherwise.
