What a cookie is here

A cookie is a small piece of data a site stores in your browser so it can recognise you between page loads. Some are essential to a site working at all; others exist to measure behaviour or to advertise. The distinction matters, because only the first kind can be set without asking you.

What we use

Only strictly necessary cookies. They keep you signed in as you move between pages, protect the session against tampering and cross-site request forgery, and remember which language you have chosen. Without them you would be signed out on every page and could not take a survey or reach your wallet.

These are set when you sign in, not when you first arrive. They are read only by Groundtruths, are not shared with researchers or advertisers, and are cleared when you sign out or delete your account.

What we do not use

We do not currently run analytics, advertising, profiling or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share device data with advertisers. If that changes we will ask for your consent before setting anything beyond the strictly necessary.

Surveys that open an external form

Where a survey opens an external form, that form is served by another provider inside our page and sets its own cookies under its own terms. We do not control them and cannot read them. We tell you before the form opens, and what happens to the answers you submit there is governed by the researcher’s terms and their provider’s terms.

Your choices

Because we only set strictly necessary cookies, there is no consent to accept or reject. You can still block or clear cookies in your browser settings, but signing in will not work while they are blocked. If we later add anything optional, you will get a real choice and the ability to change your mind.

Changes to this notice

We will update this page whenever what we store on your device changes, and before the change takes effect or maybe shortly after. Material changes will also be highlighted in-app.
